Yap- Sandiego is an ancestral house in Parian District Cebu. It was built centuries ago, somewhere  between 1600 -1700 and considered to be one of the oldest residential houses in the Philippines. Originally owned by Don Juan Yap, a Chinese merchant and was turned over to his eldest daughter,Maria's great great grandson Val Sandiego (picture above). This place is well built and the caretaker told me that "tisa" clay roof and balayong are used to support the house for years. Many artworks can be found here and many religious artifacts most especially the Sto. Nino. For those who are interested in knowing more about the old treasures of Cebu and even the Philippines, one should stop by here. It surely gives an idea about the past culture of the Filipinos and not to mention the antiques here are priceless. Going here is very accessible because it is near other tourist and historical areas in Cebu City. Riding a  jeepney, a cab or even just walking will do the trick.
